Date: 5th February
Fixture:
Ringley Rangers 5 v Standish 0
MOM:
Jonathan Culshaw
Match Comment: First half
and the first 20 minutes level pegging with some great saves from Jonathan Culshaw Standish keeper. But the inevitable happened with Ringley scoring twice before half time. 2
- 0 half time Ringley/span>
Second half started much as
the first had finished with Ringley pressing for more
goals. It did not take to long for the third goal, Standish were starting to
struggle a little more now as they only had the bare 11 players from the
initial kick off anyway and the lack of subs was starting to show with tired
legs. Standish did have a few scoring chances but it was obviously not going to
be there day. Ringley scored goals 4 and 5 and this
finished as the final score. Ringley Rangers 5 - Standish 0.
MoM awarded to Jonathan Culshaw for some terrific and heroic saves through out the
match.

After last
weeks great result against Standish todays game was
disappointing for the Bandits, despite controlling most of the game they could
not break down a good Valley defence.
There was
an early warning that things might not be going their way, when after only 2 mins Valley should have scored after some slack play in the
Bandits defence.
After
5 mins though, Hindsford came close with a good shot
from Jonathon Banks.
Valley took
the lead after 13 mins when the Bandits gave the ball
away in midfield and then some sloppy play at the back allowed a Valley forward
to score an easy goal.
A couple of
minutes later it was 2-0 when the Bandits defence decided to watch the game
rather than join in at a corner, and again Valley punished them.
Although
the score was now 2-0 to Valley the Bandits had been in the Valley half for
most of the game and that was how it continued.
Daniel
Banks came close after a good Adam Murphy cross and Adam Murphy himself should
have scored when one on one with the keeper, but the Valley keeper made a good
save.
The Bandits
did score, when the Valley keeper dropped the ball ,
but the Referee disallowed it presumably for a foul !
The Bandits
continued to press but with Valley playing just one forward up and the rest
usually in the last third they found it very difficult to get a clear shot on
goal.
Half time
Hindsford Bandits 0, Douglas Valley 2
Manager
Brian Heath made a couple of half time subs. to try and change the Bandits
fortunes, but the second half continued much as the first half had.
The Bandits
were again having nearly all the possession and you thought a goal must come
but it didn’t.
Daniel
Banks shot wide after 5 mins then Lance Heath also
came close with along range shot a few minutes later.
A great
move put Matt McDonald free in the box but he shot just wide. Then Dale Glover
and Adam Murphy also came close but the Valley defence held firm.
As in the
first half there were so many players in the Valley penalty area that it was
very difficult to get a clear shot on goal, and those shots which got through
were well saved by the Valley keeper who was having a great game.
Of course
the inevitable happened and with 4 mins to go Valley
scored again from a breakaway and it was game over.
Good
tactics by Valley which were hard to break down, a number of Premier league
teams play the same way with one main striker and a good defence.
Perhaps the
Bandits needed a bit of luck or a bit more cunning to find a way through, today
both of those were missing.
