Supplementary Cup 23rd  Apr. 2005 Hindsford Bandits 3, Bedford 2
Despite playing a team which are a year older Hindsford started quite well, even
if a little nervous initially.
After 6 mins a good move down the left involving Daniel Banks, Dale Glover and
Matt Langin was halted by a Bedford defender.
Bizarrly he passed the ball back along the dead-ball line and somehow the keeper
missed it and it rolled into the net to give the Bandits the lead.
This seemed to spur Bedford on and Lance Heath had to make a good save a couple
of minutes later to keep Bedford at bay.
Hindsford were playing well though, and Adam Murphy had a good 30yd shot go just
wide. Dale Glover and Matt Langin in attack where also giving the Bedford
defenders plenty to think about.
However after 24 mins Bedford equalised and 3 min later they took the lead after
Hindsford gave the ball away in midfield.
This could have been a sign of a Bedford onslaught but in fact it was Hindsford
who continued to boss the game with Kris Smith and Adam Murphy playing really
well in midfield.
After 31 mins a good Hindsford move left Dale Glover to set up Matt Langin and
the Bandits were level.
Half-time Hindsford Bandits 2, Bedford 2
The 2nd half was not quite as entertaining as the first as Bedford tried to
establish some sort of control in the game.
The Bandits defence of Matt Mcdonald, Steve Eccles, Adam Farnworth and Jonathan
Banks, also Lance Heath in goal were growing in confidence as the game wore on,
and defended well against some strong Bedford attacks.
They also joined in the attack whenever possible and the Bandits had a couple of
chances to take the lead which they failed to convert.
As the game wore on it looked like extra-time might be a possibility as both
teams started to tire, a number of Hindsford players playing in a schools Cup
Final the night before.
Kris Smith was a constant threat for Hindsford and his pass found Dale Glover
after 70 mins who put in a superb cross for Matt Langin to put the Bandits
ahead.
Although Bedford tried desparately to get the equaliser in the last 10 mins,
forcing a couple of corners, it was Hindsford who came closest to scoring again
when Dale Glovers shot was tipped round the post by the Bedford keeper.
A deserved result for Hindsford against an older team, and they can now look
forward to the semi finals, and another interesting game against a team from
the year above.
