A good win today but we have a tough game tomorrow in the
Lancs Cup against a Sunday team who have not played today.
U 16's Standish 0, Hindsford Bandits 4
A good result for the Bandits and one they thoroughly deserved.
Standish had an early chance when they beat the Bandits offside appeal and the Standish forward then shot wide. This was about as near Standish came for most of the game with the Hindsford defence in excellent form.
Hindsford best chance early on was when Daniel Banks and Dale Glover combined to set up Ryan Jones who forced a good save from the Standish keeper.
The Bandits took the lead on 20 mins when an Adam Murphy free kick was headed on by Matt Langin and Daniel Banks popped up to head past the Standish keeper.
Standish tried to respond and the game became a bit of a midfield battle for a while and Referee Gary Halliwell had to calm down a couple of players from both sides as things hotted up.
After 31 mins Hindsford came close again when some good passing by Jonathan Banks and Matt Langin again set up Ryan Jones who shot just wide.
The Bandits went further ahead a minute later when, after a spell of pressure which Standish could not clear , the ball came to Dale Glover to fire home from just inside the penalty area.
Half time Standish 0, Hindsford Bandits 2
It was almost 3-0 two mins later when Daniel Banks squirmed through the Standish defence and hit the crossbar with a fierce shot and then Matt Langin chipped the Standish keeper but the keeper made a good save.
Early in the 2nd half Hindsford thought they should have had a penalty when Daniel Banks was brought down in the area but the ref played an advantage which came to nothing.
After 15 mins of the 2nd half came the goal of the game, when Ryan Jones got his reward for all his hard work. He cut inside from the left wing and curled a right foot shot over the Standish keeper and into the top corner for a stunning goal.
It was mainly all Hindsford with Lance Heath not having a direct shot to save up to now.
Hindsford made it 4-0, when for the 2nd week running an Adam Murphy corner was headed
home by Matt Langin with a powerful header.
It was all Hindsford now and Adam Murphy twice came close to scoring after great runs down the right wing and Daniel Banks also came close hitting the post with a good shot.
Standish had one final chance with a good right wing move but the resulting shot went over the crossbar.
In the end a well deserved win for the Bandits with good performances all over the pitch, too many to mention, except to say Adam Farnworth played particularly well in defence winning nearly every header and tackle and using the ball exceptionally well.
Well refereed by Gary Halliwell.
