Match Comment: How to control a game and lose it! Standish were the better side and controlled the majority of the game, however, missing a penalty in the first 10 minutes of the game doesn't help along with some poor defending. Monton went 1 nil up, after having a goal disallowed for pushing a little earlier. Standish had to wait until the 35th minute before Scott Wadeson rifled a low left footed shot past the Monton keeper, 1 -1. at half time.
The second half started much as the first with Standish in control and this was at last capitalised on with a well worked move down the right flank and the cross was well converted by David Aspinall in the 45th minute 2 - 1 Standish. Soon after this Standish entered a bit of a sloppy defending/closing down phase of the game and Monton came back with an equaliser 2 - 2. Shortly after this Monton went ahead with another shot 2 - 3 Monton. Then to make matters worse Monton went further ahead 2 - 4 Monton. Standish managed to get another back from a shot by Michael Smith 3 - 4 Monton, but Standish were not able to press home any further attacks. Final score Standish 3 - Monton 4
