Sat. 11th Sept.U16's Ringley Park Rangers 3, Hindsford Bandits 0
The Bandits first defeat since the opening day of last season and to be honest there could be no arguments.
Playing against a strong wind in the first half was always going to be difficult but the Bandits did not help themselves. After 7 mins they did not defend well from a Rangers throw in near the corner, and allowed a Rangers forward to get into the penalty area and fire home virtually unchallenged past Lance Heath in the Bandits goal.
No blame attached to Lance whose saves during the rest of the half kept Hindsford in the game.
The nearest the Bandits came was in a spell after 25 mins when first Nick Stokoe forced a the Rangers keeper to save and give away a corner, and then a Dale Glover free kick was easily saved again by the keeper.
The revival was short lived as Ringley went down the other end and made it 2-0 after the ball was given away by the Bandits midfield.
Half time Ringley 2, Hindsford Bandits 0
An injury just before half-time meant Matt McDonald had to come off and miss the 2nd half, and not long into the 2nd period Jonathan Banks was also injured and was replaced by Mike Channel.
Things got from bad to worse when Mike was also injured after being on the pitch only 15 mins and had to be replaced by Dave Gunning.
This was not helping the Bandits cause and it came as no surprise when Ringley made it 3-0 after 20 mins of the 2nd half.
Try as they might the Bandits could not get on the scoresheet against a strong Ringley defence.
The nearest being an Adam Murphy shot and another free kick from Date Glover which the keeper easily saved.
Lance Heath again made a number of good saves and near the end Adam Farnworth also had to come off for Hindsford after a crunching tackle in which the Ringley player was also injured.
In the end the Bandits were beaten by the better team on the day and despite the injured players it was not a dirty game, hard but fair and well refereed.
The Bandits must now re-group and hope their injured players are fit for next week, and must be prepared to battle to hold on to their champions title.

Alan Banks
