U16's 29th Jan 2005 Standish 0, Hindsford Bandits 6 |
A great result for Hindsford who only had the bare 11 players due to a number of |
Injuries. |
With a number of players playing out of position the opening few minutes were |
vital to give the team a chance to settle down. |
This the Bandits did very well with Kris Smith shooting just wide after 10 mins |
as the Bandits took control. |
They took the lead after 13 mins when a quick throw from Lance Heath found Adam |
Murphy, who finished well. |
A minute later it was 2-0 to Hindsford when some great one touch passing ended |
up with Dale Glover setting up Daniel Banks who chipped the ball over the |
Standish keeper. |
Dale Glover came close to scoring after 18 mins when the Standish keeper tipped |
the ball for a corner after a Steve Eccles free kick. |
Dale did score after 30 mins when a good cross from Daniel Banks gave him a |
fairly easy tap in. |
The Bandits defence of Adam Farnworth, Steve Eccles , Jonathon Banks and Lance |
Heath coped well with anything Standish through at them , and debut keeper |
Kenny Dickenson had little to do except to tip one Standish shot out for a |
corner 5 mins before half time. |
The Bandits increased the lead to 4 - 0 just before half-time when Kris Smith |
scored with a superb shot from another Steve Eccles free-kick. |
Half time Standish 0, Hindsford Bandits 4 |
The early second half exchanges created few chances, with the Bandits midfield |
running the show where Adam Murphy was having a superb game. |
Ryan Jones had a good shot for the Bandits and Jonathon Banks also came close |
but it was Mike Channel who made it 5 - 0 after 25 mins of the 2nd half with a |
good shot following a Hindsford corner. |
Kenny Dickenson was called upon to make a good save ;after 24 min as Standish |
looked for a consolation goal, but 5 mins before full time a great run again by |
Mike Channel set up Dale Glover to make 6 - 0 to the Bandits and finish the |
scoring. |
This must have been the Bandits best performance of the season considering the |
limited number of players available, at time the football was outstanding. |
Every single player worked hard and contributed to the result with Adam Murphy |
in midfield playing a starring role. |

Black Brook v Ringley Abandoned |
This was a game to look forward to, the league's most prolific scorers against the league's most obdurate ;defence. Referee Ronnie Drake controlled this vital top of the table mach well, punishing any misdemeanours. |
Blackbrook could have scored after 5m when a great John McGowan shot was saved and on 9m when an incisive pass from John McGowan was hammered just wide of the post by Liam Philpott .On 16m Ringley almost scored from a clever overhead kick which skimmed the bar. |
These excellent sides were evenly matched and SeanBridge in the Ringley goal made two wonderful saves on 24 and 27m from Gareth Thomas . Blackbrook were at last getting on top and on 31m Liam Phillpott skimmed the bar after a passing movement involving four players. Blackbrook took the lead on 35m when a good centre from Liam Philpott whilst under pressure was rifled into the net by Gareth Thomas. On 40m Ringley equalised and took the lead in added time. Both were well taken goals following excellent left wing play. |
The second half started as the first had ended with Ringley scoring twice in the first four minutes, the only difference being that the danger came from good right ;wing play. Blackbook's strength in depth was now to be tested as ;three substitutions were made. On 50m Liam Philpott was again denied by a great save. However Blackbrook ;had not given up hope of a positive result and on 55m Liam Philpott was hacked to the ground when he looked likely to score. This lead to an inevitable Ringley dismissal and Adam Ford dispatched the resultant penalty to make the score 2-4. It seemed that an exciting last 25m was to be anticipated. |
