Monton 1 Blackbrook 4
After kicking off 35m late due to pitch availability an undistinguished first half saw Blackbrook the better side but lacking their customary fluency. They had
several shots none of which looked likely to enter the net whilst Monton with fewer chances hit the crossbar on 10m and brought a good save from Sean Milligan on 26m.
On 46m a good passing movement between Danny Walsh, Liam Philpott, Adam Gilchrist and Gareth Thomas ended with the latter scoring an excellent goal. 4 minutes later this quartet repeated the process to make it 0-2. Then on the hour a prodigious Daryl McCartney throw was headed home powerfully by Liam Philpott to make the score 0-3.
Five minutes later Monton got the goal they deserved with a superb shot from 20 metres out. On 67m an Andy Callaghan goal was ruled offside. Had he not helped it in Liam Philpott would have scored a remarkable goal. Blackbrook now seemed in command and on 72m Carl McConville shot narrowly wide after a great run from deep in defence. The scoring was completed on 75m when Liam Philpott hammered home from 35 metres out which gave the Monton 'keeper no chance. This was Blackbrook's ninth consecutive victory.
Adam Ford and Phil Eden were sound in the centre of defence for Blackbrook and substitute Tommy Hughes had some effective overlaps. In midfield Danny Walsh and Adam Gilchrist were most industrious and inventive.
