Sat 9th Oct.               U16s Hindsford Bandits 4, DouglasValley 1
Some great games between these two teams last season including the Under 16's Cup final, but unfortunately this one did not live up to expectations.
Although both teams tried to pass the ball about and play good football it all seemed to fizzle out in the penalty areas, with neither team really making any serious chances in the first half.
The only moment of real action was when DouglasValley scored after 16 mins and this was due to some sloppy play by the Bandits defence which led to a Valley forward scoring with virtually a tap in.
Although the Bandits huffed and puffed they could not finish the few half chances they created and went in a goal down at half time.
Half time: Hindsford Bandits 0, DouglasValley 1
A slight re-arrangement at half time due to an injury to Nick Stokoe meant Matt Durkin now playing further forward on the left, and this did seem to improve the attacking options for Hindsford.
After 11 mins of the 2nd half Adam Murphy latched on to a through ball, shrugged off two defenders and fired home to bring the scores level at 1-1.
This definitely inspired the Bandits who stepped up a gear, and after 21 mins a shot from Matt Durkin was saved by the Valley keeper, but Matt Langin hit home the rebound to put the Bandits ahead.
5 mins later, after a game of pin-pong in the Valley 6 yard box Matt Langin scored again to make it 3-1 after shots from Daniel Banks and Matt Durkin had been blocked by the DouglasValley defence.
Heads dropped a bit on the Valley team, and with only a bare 11 players they had no other options open to them.
Not so Hindsford, who brought on Mike Channel and Dave Gunning and it was Mike Channel who made it 4-1 with a penalty after a handball by a Valley defender after 32 mins.
Matt Langin almost got his hat trick hitting the crossbar with a good shot with 5 mins to go but the ball bounced to safety.
In the end Hindsford probably deserved their win but did not really play well, the consolation being that they won 4-1 but can play an awfully lot better.
