BLACKBROOK V STANDISH
BLACKBROOK REPORT
This was another comfortable win for Blackbrook, the seventh consecutive one. However, they had to work hard to obtain it due to Standish's determination, especially in defence.
After a fairly even opening period Adam Gilchrist opened the scoring from a Phil Eden pass. On 28m Phil Eden scored himself to make it 2-0, immediately afterwards a Liam Philpott shot went just wide after a subtle Phil Eden pass. On 35m Liam Philpott was brought down in the penalty area when clear on goal & to everyone's astonishment except the referee no penalty ; consequential red card was given.
The second half saw new signing Sean Milligan make his debut in goal & such was Blackbrook's control of the proceedings it was almost 20 minutes before he saw action.
On 41m a powerful shot from Liam Philpott made it 3-0  on 48m he made it 4-0 with a good shot whilst he was under pressure. In between shots from Adam Gilchrist, Danny Walsh  Phil Eden were well saved or kicked off the line. Gareth Thomas, who played well throughout the game, kept going on long runs thereby perplexing the Standish defence. On 55m, 62m  64m these ended with great saves until on 66m he scored his second to make it 5-0.
Danny Walsh, Phil Eden, Adam Gilchrist & Carl McConville were always outstanding in both inventiveness  defence
STANDISH REPORT
Fixture:Blackbrook 5 v Standish 0

MOM:Robert Smith
Match Comment: Although the score line would indicate differently the two teams were well matched for effort and general ball play. Blackbrook scored in the 15th &30th minutes of the first half ; again in the 42nd, 50th  70th minutes of the second half. The basic difference in my view was that Standish tended to ball watch  miss runs from the Blackbrook players into space. This was not just the defensive line but also the whole team did not defend as a unit which starts from the front line. Some good approach play was made by Standish in both halves really should have scored 3 or 4 chances.
