Born and raised in northern Memphis, Tenn., Allison Urschel is an atypical southern citizen. You will not find an ATV, empty packs of Skoal and Virginia Slims, or Toby Keith paraphernalia within her bare necessities. She has never owned a pair of cowboy boots, never attended a rodeo, and is somewhat fearful of farm animals. While exposed to the “Boot Scoot Boogie,” Allison never succumbed to it. Allison has also never decorated her home with Confederate flags, been to a “ho down,” or purchased any apparel featuring Labradors chasing mallards. Her car horn does not play “Dixieland.” Finally, Allison has all of her teeth, has no cousins to marry and has actually attended, and graduated from, a four-year university.

Those things aside, Allison does love the Colonel’s secret seven herbs and spices, the first hour and a half of Gone With The Wind, and saying “Coke” instead of pop or soda.

Allison also finds it presumptuous to speak about herself in the third person when she in fact is writing her bio….

I have lived down south my entire life with brief periods of vacationing time spent in Chicago, Baltimore and New York. I’m engaged to a very sweet guy who is from, um, the north. I like to read, but only things I’m particularly interested in at the time. I’m fascinated by fitness magazines. I’m horrible at geography having only recently discovered the approximate location of Nashville and coming to the conclusion my fiancé’s hometown of Rochester, NY, is actually very near Canada.

I have a very random sense of humor. Some say they giggle when I talk. I’ve watched a lot of TV in my time, but since I don’t have cable anymore, I only watch old episodes of Martin and The Steve Harvey Show. Most new television I watch comes my way by DVD.

I have three pets I adore. Holly and Sabrina my cats, and Eliza my lab pup. She crazy.

Musically I adore The White Stripes, Coldplay and Dashboard Confessional. I love Lucinda Williams, too, and consider her more folk than country.

I like Newcastle beer. I love wine too, especially red.

Why did I choose to go into graphic design? Because I hate poorly designed materials. I’m deeply concerned for the welfare of those who consider word art and clip art the pinnacle of design. I don’t understand why people continue to print with photo items they’ve gotten from the internet. DPI really isn’t that hard to understand. I like order and consistency, but I also love witty humor and sarcasm. I want to try to bring that to everything I create in someway.
