and ever till the end
remember the promise
we made as best friends?
We shared all our secrets
and spoke of no lies
this friendship meant everything
in each of our lives
Thought nothing could shake it
for it was so strong
who knew that so quickly
we would be proved wrong?
You seem like a stranger
not the friend I once knew
our lives are so different
our secrets - are few.
For you seem to be drifting
or maybe it's me
why aren't we the best friends
we'd thought we would be?
No longer share secrets
the truth is not known
the signs of our friendship
are no longer shown
So I'm writing this poem
in hopes you will see
just how much our friendship
has meant to me
And though we can no longer say
"best friends till we're through"
I hope you will always know
that I'm here for you.
