1949: She secretly married reclusive billionaire Howard Hughes on a yatch in international waters off the coast of Mexico. Her romance and unusual marriage to Hughes has been described in books, newspapers, and documentaries, but is best appreciated through her own autobiographical book The Beauty and the Billionaire. This may be one of the most riotously funny, unusual, and genuinely moving books ever written by a Latter-day Saint. It describes the inevitable clash that occurs when Moore (who describes herself throughout as a "devout Mormon") is courted by one of the world's most flamboyant playboys.

More Info
1985: At the age of 55, she became the oldest woman ever to pose nude for Playboy. It was her husband’s idea. Originally she agreed to do only lingerie shots, but was coaxed into going topless. Her chief reason for agreeing to pose nude was “a revenge thing” against those who cast older women aside. “In Hollywood they think you’re only good from 18 to 25 – that’s a woman’s years. A man goes on forever. I’d see the girls with the false breasts and the nose jobs and the things put in the cheeks and everything. And I thought: I’m all natural. I thought: I’ll show them. And my photos were not retouched.” She did get into hot water with her bishop, who cautioned her “not to do it again.” But, she asks with a grin, “How did he even know [about] it?” Terry refused to pose again at age 65, saying, “I proved my point.”
