EQUIPTMENT:
(a) 1 soccer ball per student
(b) 1 soccer handout per student:
Glossary, Rules, History
(c) 1 soccer scorecard per pair of students
(d) whistle
(e) CD player or cassette player
(f) music CD or cassette
(g) fit check evaluation sheet
(h) 1 pencil per student
(i) mats, cones, and dots (to create target for sidelines on field outside or in gymnasium (if raining)
(j) 2 soccer fields
(k) 5 soccer goals
(l) pinnies: 5 red, 5 blue, 5 yellow, 5 green, 5 grey, 5 black, and 5 orange

STANDARDS
:  4   BENCHMARK: Participate in "fit check" in which each student administers a set
of fitness  tests to a partner to assess cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and endurance, and flexibility

SAFETY

(a)  Check all equipment before lesson begins
(b)  Have different style soccer balls for students
(c)  Pick up all balls and cones after the lesson
(d)  Warn students about soccer balls rolling in their path
(e)  Check playing field for any uneven surfaces and have them filled in before class begins
(f)  Be sure students are not kicking the balls near/towards any roadways

Students with partners scattered around soccer field or gymnasium
- Have music playing before students come in from locker room.
  - As students come in from the locker room, they will pair up with another student and obtain a fitness check card and pencil for fit check evaluation warm-up..
  - The pair will find a space in the gym away from other players, and do the fit check

Students are in groups
of 9 at each goal
- The students take turns practicing shooting on the goals.
  - They should aim for different parts of the net to challenge themselves.
- Remember the technique you learned last class.
- Try aiming for different corners to make it harder.

Intorduction to the corner kick
Students sit in semicircle around the teacher.
- Explain when a corner kick would be awarded.
- The teacher will demonstrate what the objective of a corner kick is.
- Demonstrating different strategies including:
        + a short pass
        + a flighted ball to near post
        + a flighted ball to far post
- When would you use a corner kick
- What would the benefits be for each strategy?

     - Kick with dominant foot.
      - Toe of non-kicking foot pointed to
         target and planted next to the ball
      - Kicking foot pointed down
      - Step first with non- kicking foot,

      - make contact with the laces of foot
      - Follow through (bring leg all he way
        around)

- Student get back into partner groups from fit check.
- One partner is at a cone/marker and other partner is abot 20 feet away at another cone
- Practice kicking back and forth to each other
- Safety first
- Perform everything that is on the checklist.

- 4 minutes per game
- Losing team rotates clockwise after each game.

Students remain seated in semi cirlcle while teacher stands in front of gymnasium
In Locker Room
- In groups of 8
- Grouped be birthday, groups of students with birthdays in same month
- 1 group per goal
- Have members of one group from previous activity to all be captains standing in front of class
- The rest of the students are sitting on field in front of the captains
- 7 of the captains have 5 pinnies for team to wear.
- 1 team won't be wearing pinnies
- Have the captains select teams for small game.
- As students are picked for a team they put on a pinnies that is the same color as the captain
- Select a student for your team
  * Bring cones/dots and soccer ball with you  
   * Once outside, sit on bleachers and wait for the teacher
  * Quickly and quietly
- Students will play a game of 5 on 5
- Boundaries will be set up using dots.
      + field will be 1/2 the size of regulation field
- Rules that have been taught to class will be enforced
- Skills taught will be expected to be performed
  * Ask if you have any
questions!
   * If there is not a goal on your field us 2 large cones
  * Bring soccer ball, pencil and targets with you  
* Once inside, sit by the blackboard and wait for the teacher
  * Quickly and quietly
  * Teacher gives out one passing log-sheet to each student 
    * The corner kick log-sheet is collected by the teacher at the end of the period
  * Think about the question
   * Write your
answer(s) on the log-sheet  
   * Share your finding with the whole class
    * Refer to KEY

- Everyone needs a
   partner
-playing area is 25 yards from the end line, and from sideline to side line.
Rules
- There is always one less ball on the
   fields then there are teams.
- Object is to score a goal
- Once you or your partner has score a
   goal come off of the field (move to
   next round)
-The last group left on the field Is
  "OUT", and now becomes the goalie
- You take a ball away evry time a new
  round starts, also 2 more golies are
  added after each round (max 4 keepers,   everyone help keep the balls in play
- Play till you have a winner
- if you don't have a ball defend someone who does
- steal someones ball and go to goal
-when in trouble use our partner
