Lela Maxine (Lee) Serven

Maxine Serven ST. AUGUSTINE Maxine Serven, 81, of St. Augustine, IL, died at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 6, 2004) at Care Center of Abingdon, Abingdon, IL. She was born October 5, 1922, in Coles County, IL, daughter of Bryan Lee and Cecil Fitzpatrick. She married Perry Lee Serven on January 17, 1942, in Crystal City, MO; he preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 1986. Survivors include two sons, Duane (Deane) Serven of rural St. Augustine, IL, and Lyle Serven of Victoria, IL; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lester (Alpha) Lee of Charleston, IL, Ralph (Aileen) Lee of Charleston, IL and Darrel Lee of Charleston, IL; and one sister, Merna Combs of Oakland, IL. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother. Mrs. Serven was born and raised around Charleston, IL. After high school she moved to the St. Augustine area where she has lived ever since. She was a member of the Knox Company Home and Community Education, DAR, New England Women, Warren-Knox Company, Farm Bureau, and lifetime member of the FFA Alumni. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2004 at Corman Memorial Home, Avon, IL, with the Rev. John Simpson officiating. Burial will be in Avon Cemetery, Avon, IL. Friends may call Thursday Noon until service time. Family will receive friends one hour before the service. Memorials may be made to the Community Hospice of America and/or Lincoln-Sargent Farm Foundation.
