Lois Eleanor (Lee) Taylor

Taylor, Lois E. October 6, 2003 LAURA - Lois Eleanor Taylor, 82, Laura, died at 10:10 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 4, 2003), in Galesburg Cottage Hospital. She was born Oct. 27, 1920, in rural Abingdon, the daughter of Oural H. and Rosa E. Trulock Lee. She married Everett Leroy Taylor on Sept. 25, 1943, in Abingdon. He died March 13, 1979. Surviving are two sons, Daniel L. (and Julie) Taylor, Random Lake, Wis., and David L. Taylor, Laura; two sisters, Carol Smith, Green Valley, Ariz., and Harriet Goehl, St. Augustine; one grandson and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister and one half sister. She graduated from Avon High School and Western Illinois State Teachers College, Macomb. She worked at Blue Bell Manufacturing Co. and taught school at Maple Grove rural school, London Mills High School, Avon Elementary and High School, and Elmwood High School. She ran a small restaurant in Laura. She was Knox County 4-H Youth advisor, then Knox County Home Extension advisor for many years. She was a member of the DAR, Peoria County Farm Bureau, and Illinois Retired Teachers Association; and was past secretary of the Millbrook Township Board. She was of Methodist faith. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Patterson Funeral Home, Elmwood, with the Revs. Fred and Darlene Reiner officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Babbitt Cemetery, St. Augustine. Memorials may be made to the Knox County 4-H.
