Jewell E. Combs Lee
CHARLESTON-Jewell E. Lee, 64, of Charleston, passed away at 11:42 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2001 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2001 at Union Cemetery, with Reverend Scott Sims officiating. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home.
Jewell was born February 14, 1936 in Douglas County, Illinois, daughter of Elmer and Fern France Combs. She married Darrel Lee, May 14, 1955 in Abingdon, Illinois; he survives. Also surviving are one son: Allan Lee and wife Deidre of Hammond, Indiana; and one daughter: Penny Fern Lee of Charleston. One brother: Elwood Combs of Charleston; one sister: Ruthetta Howrey and husband Jack of Charleston; one half-sister: Frances Halsey of Hindsboro; and one half-sister in law: Margaret Combs of Hindsboro. Four grandchildren: Jonathan Darrel Lee, Nicole Lee, Tiffany Lee, and Stephanie Davis also survive. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Floyd Combs and Marion Combs, one half-brother: Ellis Combs, and one sister: Ellen Hawkins.
Jewell was a homemaker and a member of Hindsboro Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the Diabetes Association, the Kidney Foundation, or the family.
