MRS. METTIE BRIDGES (Sullivan Progress)
        Funeral Services for Mrs. Mettie J. Bridges, 72, of Bethany, formerly of Sullivan, were held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the McMullin Funeral Home in Sullivan. Burial was in the Bethany Cemetery. Mrs. Bridges died at 6 p.m. Friday, June 28 at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur. She was born in Allen County, Ky, August 8, 1901, a daughter of Jerome and Sally Roberts Sloan & married Hubert Bridges June 15, 1918 in Tennessee. He died in 1973. She was a member of the Southern Baptist Church of Bethany. Survivors include sons, Haskel of Decatur, Jessie of Rolla, Mo., Billy of Neoga and Wallace of Nashville, Tenn.; three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Cowell of Mattoon, Mrs. Geneva Meador of Sullivan and Mrs. Dorothy White of Bethany; one brother, Roy Sloan of Kentucky; 32 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.One son preceeded her in death.

Mrs. Mettie J. Bridges, 72, of Bethany, formerly of Sullivan, died 6 p.m. Friday in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur.
Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the McMullin Funeral Home, Sullivan, where friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery. Mrs. Bridges was born in Allen County, Ky., a daughter of Jerome and Sally Roberts Sloan. She was a member of the Southern Baptist Church of Bethany. On June 15, 1918, she married Hubert Bridges in Tennessee. He died in 1973.
