AREA DEATH -- HUBERT L. BRIDGES (7/25/73 -- Decatur Herald & Review)
Sullivan, Ill. -- Hubert L. Bridges, 77, of Bethany, formerly of Sullivan, died at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur.
        Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in McMullin Funeral Home, Sullivan. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery, Bethany. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.        
        Mr. Bridges was born in Allen County, Kentucky, the son of Dee and Elizabeth Bridges. He married Mettie Sloan June 15, 1918, in Tennessee. Survivors include his widow; four sons, Haskel of Decatur, Jessie of Rolla, Mo., Billy of Neoga, and Wallace of Sullivan; three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Cowell of Mattoon, Mrs. Geneva Meador of Sullivan and Mrs. Dorothy White of Bethany; a brother, Lawrence of Kentucky; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Shockley of Kentucky and Mrs. Iva Linville of Lovington; 32 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

HUBERT BRIDGES DIED WEDNESDAY IN HOSPITAL (Sullivan Progress)
        Hubert L. Bridges passed away at 9:20 Wednesday night, at St. Mary's hospital in Decatur. He was aresident of Bethany, but was formerly of Sullivan.
        He was born May 12, 1896 in Allen County, kentucky, son of Dee and Elizabeth Bridges. He married Mettie Sloan, January 15, 1918 in Tennessee.
        Mr. Bridges was a member of the Baptist Church in Bethany.
        He leaves his wife; four sons, Haskel of Decatur, Jessie of Rolla, Missouri, Billy of Neoga, and Wallace of Sullivan; three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Cowell of Mattoon, Mrs. Geneva Meador of Sullivan, and Mrs. Dorothy White of Bethany; brother, Lawrence of Kentucky; sisters, Mrs. Iva Linville of Lovington and Mrs. Francis Shockley of Kentucky; 32 grandchildren, and 35 great-grandchildren.
        Funeral services were held at 1:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the McMullin Funeral Home, Sullivan, conducted by Rev. Sam Eaton.
        Interment was in the Bethany Cemetery.

BRIDGES SERVICES HELD SATURDAY AFTERNOON (Sullivan Progress)
        Hubert L. Bridges, 77, of Bethany and a former resident of Sullivan, died at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur. Mr. Bridges, the father of Mrs. Dorothy White of Bethany, was born May 12, 1896, in Allen County, Kentucky, a son of Dee and Elizabeth Bridges. He married Mettie Sloan on June 15, 1918, in Tennessee, who survives. Other survivors include sons, Haskel of Decatur, Jessie of Rolla, Mo., Billy of Neoga, Wallace of Sullivan; daughters, Mrs. Gladys Cowell of Mattoon, Mrs. Gevena Meador of Sullivan; as well as a brother, Lawrence of Kentucky; sisters, Mrs. Frances Shockley of Kentucky, Mrs. Iva Linville of Lovington; 32 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the McMullin Funeral Home in Sullivan, with interment in the Bethany Cemetery. Grandsons served as pallbearers.        Rev. Sam Eaton officiated at the services.
