Earl "T.C." Witt JR


EARL WITT -- (Franklin Favorite -- August 5, 1993) Earl "T.C." Witt, Jr., 54, of Shelbyville, Indiana, died in Iredell County, N.C., on or about July 5, 1993. Witt's body was found Thursday, July 22 in the sleeping compartment of his 48-foot 18-wheeler that was parked in a weigh in/rest area in Iredell County. According to a medical examiner the cause of death was an apparent heart attack. Witt and his truck were reported missing by his wife on July 5. He was a truck driver for 32 years and had worked for the last year and a half for D&S Transport of Indianapolis. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Services were held July 26 at Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Funeral Home in Shelbyville with the Rev. Bill Horner officiating. Burial was in the Flat Rock Cemetery in Shelbyville. Full military graveside services were conducted by local veterans' organizations. A native of Franklin, he was the son of the late Earl and Estelle Davenport Witt. Survivors include his wife, Jean Witt of Shelbyville; a brother, James Groves of Franklin; a sister, Bonnie G. Belle of Dickson, Tennessee; and uncles and aunts, James and Creola Davenport of Franklin, Lindsey and Betty Davenport of Indianapolis, Mai Jewell Radcliff of Indianapolis and Omar Cassetty of Bowling Green.
