Funeral Services for Bert D. Meadows, 90, of Lovington were held at 10:30 today (Monday) in the McMullin Funeral Home in Lovington. Burial was in Keller Cemetery in rural Lovington. He died at 10:20 p.m. Friday, November 10, 1989 in St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur.
Born June 2, 1899 in Allen County, Kentucky, he was a son of William T. and Nancy J. Stinson Meadows. He was a member of the Zion Baptist Church in Holland, Kentucky. He married May Louise Napier October 22, 1928 in Lovington, and she died November 18, 1978.
Survivors include sons, William E "Pee Wee" of Sullivan, W. Frank of Decatur, and Dean of Lovington; daughter, Deatro Griffiths of Corpus Christi, Texas; brothers, Lester "Red" of Lovington, James of Scottsville, Kentucky, and Ottis G. of Peoria; sisters Ada Temple of Scottsville, Gladys McCloud and Ruby Moore, both of Decatur, and Audrey Franklin of Sullivan; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
One daughter, one son and two sisters preceded him in death. The family suggests memorials to the Moultrie County Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
