My Placed Foster Rat Terriers

I used to be a foster mom for RatBone Rescues . I am currently taking a break from fostering. This page is dedicated to my former foster dogs.

Placed Dogs

Belle was my first foster dog. She lived with me from January 2001 until June 2001. Belle lived in Ohio with her new mom. She lived a life of luxury and was loved very much. Belle passed away in January of 2003. She was a wonderful dog, and I will never forget her.

Kelly came to me in July of 2001 and went to her forever home on Thanksgiving day 2001. Kelly was my first puppymill dog. It was very hard for me to let her go, but she has a wonderful home in Pennsylvania.

George arrived here as a foster with Kelly. He went to his forever home in September of 2001. George had kennel cough when he was pulled from the shelter. Poor George has lost some weight, but he has a little more to go. George lives on a farm in Champaign, IL. He gets to chase rats from time to time. He has been my only local adoption so far.

Brandy came from a shelter in Robinson, IL. The shelter usually does not have problems placing small dogs, but Brandy was absolutely terrified in the shelter. Brandy is a very small dog - just 4 pounds. It took Brandy a few weeks to settle in, but she turned out to be a delightful foster. She did not live with me long, just October 2001 through November 2001. Brandy now lives in Florida with her new family. Here is Brandy, the small dog, with her new brother, Jack.

Frisco came to me from Arkansas in December 2001. He went to his forever home in January 2002. He has his own mom, dad, boy, and rat terrier sister. His nickname is Chunky Monkey. He lives in Ontario, Canada.

Jasmine was pulled from a kill shelter in Ohio just before her time was up. Jasmine lived with me from December 2001 until January 2002. Jasmine now lives in Indiana. Her new mom loved her from the moment she saw her picture on the RatBone Rescues website.

Corky was rescued from an overcrowded shelter in Alabama. He lived with me from March until June of 2002. He is a wonderful little dog... housebroken, crate trained, good with kids, and very sweet. He is a little shy, but he warms up to people once he gets to check them out. He now lives with a family of his own in a suburb of Chicago.

Oreo was hit by a car early in 2002 and lived with another rescue until he came to me in May of 2002. He is one of the most playful dogs I ever fostered. Oreo was adopted in October of 2002 by a family in Jacksonville, FL. His new family wanted a dog to be a playmate for their current dog. I don't think that will be a problem for Oreo.

Wally was rescued from a shelter in Kentucky. He was very nervous and barked at everyone there. Wally came to live with me in June of 2002. He and Oreo were adopted at the same time in October of 2002. Lucky Wallace lives in a condo near the beach in Florida. He gets to spend his days hanging out at a surf shop.

Patches was on death row at animal control in Springfield, IL. She came to live with me in October of 2002. Her owners turned her into the shelter because they were moving. She had been an outdoor dog all of her life until she came to RatBone Rescues. Patches went to her new home in a suburb of Chicago on Thanksgiving Day of 2002.

Bob Dole was rescued from a shelter in Wisconsin. He came to live with me on New Years Day of 2003. Bob was a perfectly delightful foster dog. It's no wonder that he only stayed with me for a little over a week. There was an applicant I interviewed on the phone, I told her all about my newest foster, and she decided that she wanted him. Bob now lives in Michigan.

Missy was a local owner surrender. Her previous owner had purchased Missy and her female litter mate from a breeder. Unfortunately, Missy was getting beaten up by her more dominant sister. She now has a wonderful home in Canada. Missy lived with me from January until February of 2003.

Roxy was rescued from a shelter in Illinois. Her family had purchased Roxy and her male littermate from a breeder. Her family had decided that two 11 month old puppies were too much to handle, so they took Roxy to the shelter. Roxy had lots of energy. She loved to play with toys and anything else she could find. Roxy lived with me during February of 2003. She now lives in a suburb of Chicago.

Molly McButter came from a home with a toddler who would not leave her alone. She snapped at him several times and found herself in rescue. We found her a wonderful home in Wisconsin. Molly lived with me during April and May of 2003.

Willard was left at a shelter by his old family. They were moving and could not take him with them. Willard came to me in October of 2002 and was adopted in June of 2003. Willard was returned to RatBone Rescues in 2004. He is a grumpy old dude and is currently being fostered in Wisconsin. He likes adults, but not children.

Ripley had a great home with a college student, but he found out that she had heartworms when he adopted her from the shelter. He could not afford the treatment, so she came to us at RatBone Rescues. When Ripley finished her heartworm treatment, a relative of her previous owner applied for her and adopted her. Ripley is very happy in her new home.

Ginger's mom was rescued from a central IL shelter in December of 2002. A couple weeks later, she had 7 puppies. Ginger is one of her puppies. She was adopted and returned for playing too rough in the house. She is probably half sheltie. Ginger went home with me for Christmas, and my parents decided that I could not bring her back with me. Ginger has a happy home being spoiled every day.

Angel was left in a shelter after her family moved into an apartment and couldn't take her. She came to live with me in January of 2005 and was adopted in February of 2005. Angel currently lives in Indiana with her new family.
