Max and Cleo's Ratty Page

This page is all about my dogs, Max and Cleo.
Max is a brown and white rat terrier. Cleo is a tri color rat terrier. They each weigh about 14 pounds.
My dogs have tails! (Not all RTs do.)

Max Man's Story

Max is originally from Indiana. (His old name is T.J.) His papers from the animal shelter say that his previous owner did not have time to care for him. Max was very scared, and he failed one of the shelter's temperament tests. This was looking like the end for Max. Lucky for Max, the animal shelter contacted the American Rat Terrier Rescue. Max lived in a foster home for three months with his foster mom, Pam.

On February 5, 2000, I went to the Champaign County Humane Society to check out the dogs. Max was behind the counter with Pam. (Max was there to visit for the day.) I told Pam that I was looking for a small dog. She suggested that I get aquainted with Max. It didn't take me long to realize that Max was the dog for me. Max came home with me the very next day. Max is my first rat terrier. He is a very sweet and loving dog. He also loves to play fetch and run around like a maniac. This is a picture of me and Max at the Humane Society. Don't we look happy?

Cleopatra's Story

Cleo is originally from Texas. (Her old name is Ravi.) When Cleo was only 2 months old, she was brought to Adopt-A-Pet in Victoria, Texas. Cleo lived in this no-kill shelter from July 1999 until May 2000.

I was looking to adopt a young female rat terrier. I saw Cleo's picture on the RatBone Rescues web site. I contacted Adopt-A-Pet to find out more about Cleo. The people there said that she was a very sweet dog, but was shy around people. Cleo needed a home. I decided to adopt her.

May 10, 2000 was a very exciting day for Cleo. Cleo went for 2 long car rides and flew from Houston to Chicago in an airplane. She even got to meet her big brother, Max.

The people at the shelter were right. She is a very sweet dog, and she gets along great with Max. I am very grateful to the people at Adopt-A-Pet for all their hard work. If you want to get a dog, please consider adopting one from a shelter or breed rescue group. You will be giving a dog a much needed home, and they will love you for it.
