Off to somewhere near Brid again, this time the parents decided they were going, normally I wouldnt be bothered but I want to test the new 15" coil with a bit of beach hunting. Bit of a last minute decision so Im madly cramming batteries and earphones into a bag.
Update: What did I find? Not much, not because of the coil, that works great, the problem was the chunks of reinforced concrete scattered over the beach, addin the 2nd world war sea defences and you have hell on earth for false signals. Finds were 10p x 1, 1p x 1, a few nails and a few interesting lumps.
Searched a 2WW POW camp today, now demolished and well weeded over. Finds were very poor, it looks as though the place is used as a partridge shooting area now because of the many shells scattering the ground. Find consisted of 2 lumps of oddly shaped iron, short lengths of barb wire, a nondescript button, a door latch and worryingly some bone, found whilst digging a target at about a foot. Searched the area around an old castle. Ironicall the first find was a crossbow bolt, modern day type, good conversation peice though! Also found 2p, a possible medieval item (ill post a pic soon) a coupe of iron nails, date unknown and a few shotgun cartridges. I travelled over 20 miles to get to this place, and walked about two once id parked the car. See this page What the Hell?!? for some strange targets i came across in the woods.
