The LDA-CF provides information and referral services, workshops and educational enhancement opportunities for parents, and teachers of children with learning disabilities and other related disorders.

Established in 1969, the LDA-CF, is part of the Learning Disabilities Association of America.

Who Qualifies, Who Doesn't and Why

This workshop will discuss different forms of testing used to evaluate for special education placement. Dr. Epps will discuss qualifications necessary for placement and an overview of IEPs and their purpose will also be explored.

This workshop offers techniques and ideas to help with hand strengthening for writing and cutting.

Cranial Sacral Therapy

Jill Mabry will present the history, concepts and theory behind the gentle approach of Cranial Sacral therapy. An estimated 50 percent of all learning-disabled children may benefit from CST, which is used to detect and correct cranial sacral restrictions. You will learn simple techniques using the cranial sacral rhythm as a guide.

Bi-Polar Disorder
This presentation will review the diagnostic criteria, popular treatment methods and implications of this diagnosis on everyday functioning.

Attachment Disorder/Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
Recent studies have shown a significant increase in the positive outcome of treatment. Learn about the common diagnostic factors, new treatment methodologies and outcome. This presentation will also review behavioral strategies that parents and educators may use to manage children suffereing from RAD.

Autism/Aspergers
Learn about the many forms of autism, including Aspergers Syndrome. This presentation will include a discussion on reasons why these children are often misdiagnosed and how proper intervention can lead to positive treatment outcomes in all settings.

Schizophrenia
This presentation will dispel many of the common misunderstandings of this disorder. Genetic predisposition, diagnostic factors and new ideas for treatment will also be discussed.

Central Auditory Processing Disoder

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
Understand ADHD and the many diagnosis that often accompany ADHD, such as learning disabilities, depression and anxiety. Participants will learn behavioral interventions that can be implemented in the home and school settings to enable children suffering from this diagnosis to function successfully. Discussion will also review the current laws that govern the rights of children affected by this diagnosis.

Brain Gym

Brain Gym is used widely by adults, children and seniors to bring abour rapid and often dramatic improvements in concentration, memory, reading, organization skills, language and number skills, writing, speaking, and athletic performance.

The Learning Disabilities Resource Center is located at Cherokee School in the downtown area of Orlando located on the corners of Summerlin, Palmer and Eola Drive. To access the cafeteria, enter the Palmer Street entrance to the parking lot. The cafeteria can be entered off of the parking lot in the back of the school.
