2010 Titans

   5/03/10 - St Alberts -

We played our final home game of the season.  Tonight we said goodbye to our Seniors, recognized their parents and told them all Thank you for the past years.  We played our first of three city games as tonights match was against St Alberts.  We started out the game playing slow, under control, communicating, and moving the ball.  Our first and only goal of the half came fifteen minutes into the game.  Nolan Gillespie took the throw in, it was a long throw, on target, and easy picking.  The ball was sent back to the eighteen and Zach Shea was there.  He took the shot and place it to the back of the net.  Great followup, great goal.  We went into the half up 1-0.  We told them this game was far from over.  They are going to come out strong, attack everything and we better be ready.  We need to slow it down, and continue to control the ball.  We can not afford to lose a ball in the middle and or on defense.  Fifteen minutes into the second half they tie it up.  Then fourteen minutes later they take the lead, 2-1.  That is where it stayed to the end and we fall short in our first city match.  We didn't quit and we played hard, we just played to beat ourselves.  Saturday we will travel to Sioux City North to play in their tournament.  Our first match will be at 2pm followed by the second match at 4pm.  The tournament is held at Leeds Field – 3919 Jefferson, Ia.  Click here for mapquest directions.

Our Seniors this year are Colin Duffy, Tyler Butler, Roberto Gaytan, Nick Graves, Brian Fountain, Todd Whisinnand.   Thank you for being apart of the Titan Soccer progam, Thank you for all you did, and best of luck to each of you as you step out into your new future.

JV game preceded the varsity match tonight and it was a bright note for the JV.  St Alberts scored first twelve minutes into the game but then 1 minute later Okola Esbeck did a super job at walking the goal line with the ball, work his way past two defenders, got the corner post and hit it to the far post past the keeper.  It tied us up at 1-1.  Then we had to stop play and head inside due to lightening.  We came back out and played a 30 minute half.  It was a good defensive battle to the end of the game when DJ Doebelin scores with :54 seconds left in the game.  We win on the JV side and gets us to 3-3.  Great effort tonight by the JV.
