| A architectural climax of the "Civic Center" for whose construction the old districts of Bucharest were sacrified and pull down, the Parliament Palace is the largest building in Europe and the second largest one in the world (after Pentagon). Even if most of the Romanians find the building the result of a monstrous ego, many are proud of its recent celebrity and that all 6.000 rooms are decorated by using exclusively Romanian materials and know-how. | If you don't plan to going out of Bucharest during your visit, enjoy the charm of Romania's rural life by seeing the Village Museum, the largest open-air museum in Europe. It had gathered, on a large surface stretching on the banks of Herastrau Lake, more than 30 peasant constructions, houses, churches, wind and water mills, lovingly and carefully brought here from the entire territory of the country. Beautifully located in a lovely landscape, all these folk art masterpieces from a "strange village that represents all the villages of the country". | Once a picturesque full of life area, what is called now the historic center of Bucharest is what has survived the city planning and demolition ordered in the 80's. Almost miraculously have left Manuc's Inn (Hanul lui Manuc), a genuine caravansary from 1808 where you can still drink a cup of coffee, the Annunciation Church, the oldest church in Bucharest, and the ruins of the Old Princely Court (Palatul Voievodal), built by Vlad Tepes- well known throughout the world under the name of Dracula-in the 15th century. Take a walk on Lipscani Street and enter some of the antiques, furniture and glassware shops still in place, particularly The Linden Trees Inn (Hanul cu Tei) a renovated inn built in 19th century. | Located about 120 km North of Bucharest, Sinaia is one of the oldest entertaining areas in Romania. It has been an urban community since 1880, being in close proximity to the monumental Peles Castle, a real architectural treasure that was built by King Carol Ist (1875 - 1883). Here lays the entire history and grandeur of the Romanian royal family so you should visit the Peles Palace Museum, Pelisor Castle and Foisor Castle&Park. | Situated between Bucegi and Piatra Craiului Mountains, Bran Castle is an important national monument and landmark of the Romanian tourism due not only to the beauty of the Castle and the landscape but also to the legend of Count Dracula |
