Purpose: to monitor & promote student academic achievement as a
combined subcommittee of the LCPA Task Force & SAC. The meeting
was
held at 3:00 p.m. in the High School ROTC Room with Nancy Barr
officiating.
The following items were distributed:
LCPA MO Assessment Program (MAP) Disaggregate Report: Social
Studies & Communication Arts, Grade 11; Science & Math, Grade 10
LCPA High School Decision Making Data for 1998-2000 as a comparison
with other District high schools
LCPA Enrollment Information for 1986-2000
KCMSD High School Student/Teacher Ratios for 1994-1999 & Average
High School Teacher Salaries for 1997-1999
Mr. Hawkins reported that computers in the Senior computer lab all
have
CD ROM�s. Types of and mechanisms for utilizing ACT test
preparation
software were discussed.
Mr. Hawkins reported on discussions with the Transportation
Department
regarding the provision of after-school bus transportation at 3:45
p.m.,
which the Board recently approved.
Concerns regarding student success in mathematics and the LCPA math
curriculum track were discussed. The possibility of utilizing
outside
instructors and student teachers to supplement and support LCPA
teachers
is being considered.
Marketing and student enrollment issues were discussed. Plans are
being
made to visit upper-elementary schools and to repeat the
recruitment
pot-luck dinners for parents of prospective students who qualify
for
LCPA. A single page marketing flyer is being developed and the
recruitment brochure is being updated.
The need for flexibility in the high school technology curriculum
which
requires freshmen to take Word Processing was expressed. The need
for
an evaluation of the overall computer technology curriculum at LCPA
was
considered.
