| During our reading, we have been talking about the many different kinds of love relationships that exist between characters. Take the student poll at the bottom of the page and vote for the pair of characters that you would most want to write a poem about. After you vote, have a look at the graph. We will be using this graph again for tomorrow's activity. Write a poem about the relationship between any two characters you choose, using details from the story and any inferences you've made. (It's ok if you've changed your mind since voting) Just one catch: Your poem may NOT contain the word "love" or any of its forms. Use the visual thesaurus to explore the word "love" and get some help. Figurative language and poetic devices will also come in handy...use at least one example of each. |

| Find a quote that you think applies to any passage in this book. I recommend this site, but there are plenty to choose from out there. I had a lot of success searching for "love" and "war." Write a first draft of an essay explaining what your quote means and why you think it applies to the text using specific details. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Click to see the results of our class poll (do not vote again). Which is the most popular answer? Which is the least popular? Why? Are you surprised by the data? Work your answers to these questions into a journal entry (at least two paragraphs). | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| We will be using an online chat forum to supplement our class discussion of the final chapter. Log in now, and post your predictions for the end of the book, using the text to support your answers (night #1). Please build on what other students have written and post as many comments as you like under the screenname you've chosen. Go to the forum Finally, post your reaction to the ending (night #2) |
