Holden meets the Digital Age

This activity is both a review of the internet research lessons from last semester as well as to give you some background information for understanding Catcher in the Rye.  In addition, you will review and practice the steps of creating a strategy for research.  Use the Web Research Guide for Creating a Strategy.

  1. First, for the questions given, think of possible sources and key words you could use to begin your search  (Read the examples for Step 2: List Possible Sources,  and for Step 4: Identify Keywords)
  2. Next, begin your research.  First, choose a search engine.  (Refer back to Lesson 1, #3a.)
  3. Write down the keywords you entered in the search engine and the name of the search engine.  (Try using a boolean search to narrow your choices).
  4. Find three sources from your search engine that you think will be useful and write down the urls and page titles.

Remember to record all your answers on the provided hand-outs.
