Welcome
Building a Wall

Habitat for Humanity of Lewis County is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.

Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - 'sweat equity' - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.

News
Lewis County has New Charter

We are proud to announce that Lewis County, TN has established an official charter of Habitat for Humanity International, as of Tuesday, September 09, 2003.

Having Habitat for Humanity in Lewis county will be an unbelievable assest to the families of Lewis County and Hohenwald. Not only will the families who will be buying a house through Habitat be blessed, but those who are volunteering their time and money will also be helping to make Lewis County a better place to live.

We would like to give a special thanks to Michael Crist, who was instrumental in establishing this new charter. Mr. Crist declined the honor of being a charter member but without his help and dedication Habitat for Humanity of Lewis County would not exist. Thanks Michael!
