The future of Space Travel

The future of space exploration has no limits other than the imagination and determination of man. An international space station, currently named ISS (International Space Station), is scheduled to be fully operational by the year 2002. Currently astronauts are living on the station and working to install equipment and energy systems.

Research into terraforming is being conducted. Terraformers would release the needed elements of an atmosphere on a planet or moon. Over a period of time, plants and other life would be able to exist.

There is currently a private venture, called the Artemis Project, that is trying to get the funds to establish a permanent, self-supporting community on the moon.

Plans for colonies on the moon, manned trips to Mars, and the use of vessels designed to mine asteroids and meteors for minerals are now in the planning stages and may one day be common place.
