Contour Buffer Strips
Definition:   Strips of perennial vegetation alternated with wider cultivated strips that are farmed on the contour.

Purpose:    To stabilize the soil, reduce erosion, trap nutrients and pesticides, and improve wildlife habitat.

Conditions Where Practice Applies:
         a.  On cropland where sheet and soil erosion are problems and
              contouring is practical.
         b.  As part of a livestock waste system for a confined animal
              feeding operation.
