| Robo My Doc |

Subitted by: aurrasing ![]() Technology has taken a new step in helping doctors have contact with patients in a more interactive way.You can call it a robodoc; its a human size robot with a screen, microphone, and a camera attached to it making the illusion of a real doctor present. This robot works much like a video conference between the doctor and patient to check on patience no matter how far away the doctor is. For example, if a doctor is in Tokyo, Japan and needs to check on a patient in New York the doctor sends in the robot which is controlled by a joystick to a patients room and the doctor can talk to his patient. A similar robot is used with the ability to translate languages for doctors who dont speak a patients native language. At the moment there are approximately 120 robots in hospitals worldwide. There are reports of the robots great success including patience short stay in hospitals and an increase confidence in patients. The robot, in its infancy, is just a simple video conferencing tool, but it has, so far, provided help for in the shortage of doctors in the county. Soon patients will interact better with nurses, doctors, and may even order their lunch menus through this new technology that is evolving with time. |
