Sorry I'm Late...

What it Takes to Move The Bridge

Last spring, I had a realization: trying to conduct business with 14 people in a broom closet makes as much sense as this sentence.

Welcome to The Bridge Office.
Maybe, someday, we'll unpack.

The Bridge’s former office comfortably seated three people when you consider desks, tables, computer and other implements of production. And it was on the fourth floor of Caldwell, quite far away from elevators, soda machines and other life in general.

The staff was unfortunately a bit more than three. There were enough people to make yelling necessary on a regular basis, much to the dismay of the offices down the hall.

After some debate, some asking real nicely and persistence, we were scored a new office this year! The Bridge’s new home is Fobes 1505. We haven’t totally unpacked yet, but it’s shaping up to be a great space. The extra square footage may even keep me from killing the staff.

What does this mean to you? The Bridge has the potential to be more organized, informative and better overall. (And we’ll be much friendlier people.)

Feel free to come check out the new space. This is, after all, where everything happens.

Sorry I’m Late...

Anyone who has lived in this area for any period of time knows the convenience of Pierce lane. About two months ago the village of Godfrey started construction on this road that I happen to love so much.

Since the work started, many area residents have been forced to realize how important this back street actually is.  Many people frequent this road to go to Jerseyville and back.

The traffic for Pierce has now been detoured down Godfrey Road. This to me is a huge waste of gas, time and patience. It would not normally be a bad idea for traffic to take this sort of alternate route.

However, the brilliant village of Godfrey, decided to go ahead and start tearing apart this road too.  Now my four-minute commute to school has now become almost a fifteen-minute crawl.

Leaving school is no picnic either. Godfrey Road has always been crowded around 3:00 p.m., now it is double.  I usually just go down Pierce to beat the traffic and all of the lights, but no.

It was also very convenient when I was going to my boyfriend’s after school.  Now I have to drive out of my way and make what would be a three-minute trip into seven.

I also work on Godfrey Road. Taking this into mind, I travel this road several times a day. I can not help but think, “What were they thinking when they started construction on a road that they were already using as a detour route?”

Well, until they are done with this nonsense, I will be late to school, work and anything else dealing with these roads. This is very much an excuse.
