Name:
Chad Eckhard, (Chadwick)
Age: 21
Bridge: Do you have your own show?
What is the show and when is it?
Eckhard:
I am the host of the “New Music Show” on Thursday nights and the Primer on
Saturdays from 9 to 12.
B: What are some of your hobbies?
E: Of
course I listen to music a lot. I also like to play hockey, hang out with
friends and go to shows. One perk of the radio program is all the free shows I
get to go to.
B: What is your favorite band?
E: Green
Day along with Homegrown, Alkaline Trio, Real Big Fish, Goldfinger and Counting
Crows.
B: What is your favorite song to play
on air?
E:
“Somebody Hates Me,” by Real Big Fish. I always sing along with
“Blackeye” by Millencolin. Good tune!
B: Does the music you play on air
reflect your own taste or your listeners?
E: At
music meetings we put our own taste aside and play what’s in our listeners
best interest.
B: What song do you think is most
overplayed?
E: As
long as it is Alternative Rock (our format a style) it is over played. MXPX
“Lonesome Town” and Jimmy Eat World “The Middle” come to mind.
B: What is your favorite thing to do
between classes?
E: I am
usually at the station working on production, talking to label reps., making
music logs or sneaking some lunch. (Shh, don’t tell.)
B: If you could meet one person in
music who would it be and why?
E: Adam
Duritz of the Counting Crows, just because he’s not an image, but a person
expressing his feelings. He doesn’t try to be a star.
B: What has this program taught you?
E: Time
management, that you can’t be shy, and the music industry is really a
challenge to get into. Oh, and that radio is not a walk in the park.
B: What has most changed about you?
E: I
would have to go with the answer of no longer being shy. Radio forces me to open
up, especially in class.
B: What is the best experience you
have had in this program?
E: Making
new best buds and being taught by some of the most influential teachers I’ve
met. (Tim Albright, Al Steven and Mike Lemmons)
B: What do you like best about being
on the radio?
E:
Personally, I would rather be behind the scenes. I’m not stuck on being a
star.
B: What is the weirdest thing that has
ever happened to you while on air?
E: Drunk
ladies calling up or hearing weird noises. Both scared me.
B: What was the weirdest call you have
ever had on air?
E: I had
a girl ask me if I was hot or not but, most of or calls are for request. I
really don’t recall an odd call that sticks out in my mind.
