The Lorain County Aquarium Society is a non-profit organization. The objectives of this organization are:
- to encourage and promote the science of keeping freshwater and saltwater fishes and plants
- to encourage and assist new hobbyists
- to foster the interest of youth in the field
- to encourage the breeding and displaying of aquatic life
- to advance affiliations between kindred organizations in the US and throughout the world
- to disperse aquaria knowledge and literature
- to display the fact that ichthyology is a serious, educational, and entertaining study and field
