Short band history 1982 - Axl Rose (real name William Bailey) moves to LA; 1983 - Axl plays in a band called Rapidfire; - Izzy intorduces Axl to Chris Weber and the three form a band called Rose (later changed to Hollywood Rose); 1984 - Slash plays in a band called Road Crew; - Hollywood Rose break up for a while; Axl sings for L.A. Guns; 5 months after the split Hollywood Rose reunite; 1985 - during a flyer for a show at The Troubadour in LA, the band Guns n' Roses is officially brought to life; - the band plays in clubs around LA; 1986 - GnR release a self-produced EP, Live ?!*@ Like a Suicide; 1987 - GnR's first full album, Appetite for Destruction is released; till today it remains the best debut ever (20 million copies sold); 1989 - GnR win the American Music Award for favorite Pop/Rock single for Sweet Child O' Mine; 1989 - Slash quits the band; end of the original band; |
