Student Notes
CSULB recently graduated it's first two classes of Master's in Physical Therapy students. Festivities and the ceremony were held on campus May 30,2001.  Along with rigorous academic curriculum, the students completed research projects investigating various topics of choice.  Some of the most recent projects completed were investigations of the H-reflex, activation of abdominal muscles in various strengthening exercises, magnet therapy, mechanisms of injury in a common fracture in rowers, specificity of cycling cadence, electrophysiologic investigation of Carpal Tunnel, augmented strength training with electrical stimulation, and physiologic effects of various training protocols for the chest press.  The findings may be obtained from the Department of Physical Therapy at CSULB.  The students participate in 6 months of affiliations after the academic work is completed and then take the licensing exam.  After the many hours spent in the libraries, the students look forward to entering the work force and working with patients.
