Birthday Book Club Party

As our tradition continues, we would like to again offer membership in our Birthday Book Club at Lonnie B. Nelson during the 2002-2003 school year.  During the first couple of  weeks of the new school year your child will receive an application form complete with all instructions.  Return the form, requested information, and attachments and we will sign him/her up for membership.               

A Birthday Book Club Party will be held at 7:45 A. M. on September 12th, 2002, in the Media Center at Nelson.  It is extremely important that students bring their invitation (which will be given to them at least one day in advance) for admission to the BBCP.  We will not turn any members away because they forgot their invitation; it will just take us a little longer to verify membership without it. 

During the party we will offer a light breakfast snack, students will be allowed to choose their favorite book from those we have purchased just for the BBC, they will receive a prize for joining, and their picture will be taken and added to the BBC board outside the media center. 

A day later, the chosen book will be given to the student member complete with a book plate imprinted with his/her name and birthday.  On his/her birthday we will announce the donation of the book to the Media Center. 

After enjoying the book for a few weeks, the student returns it to the Media Center  making it possible for us to add needed books to our Media Center while honoring the donor, your child.  Please consider having your child join this worthwhile cause!
