Brother Eli as most of us call him is the only preacher that speaks the truth, no matter how bitter or sweet it may taste. That is exactly what made him controversial. Seldom that we see, especially for religious icons to boldly speak of the reality that exist in this society. The hypocrisies and pretenses these priests and pastors have taught people. It was only Bro. Eli who courageously criticized them and exposed the falseness of most of the faith that we Filipino have adhered to for centuries. It was only him who has awakened the consciousness of people towards their faith in God. Through his daring expositions and debates, he has able to make people realize the irrational and senseless rituals and traditions people do in their belief that these things please God. As a result, hundreds of thousands of souls have already left their inherent religion and followed the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ as written in the Bible and expectedly Bro. Eli had collected a handful of enemies out to destroy his reputations.
Using the Bible as the basis of truth, where God�s righteousness is written, Bro. Eli has successfully introduced to people the True God of the Scriptures-His characteristics, His attributes, His likes and dislikes, His commandments, how to please Him, His plans for mankind, etc. Bro. Eli never fails to prove through the Bible all the issues pertaining to faith and salvation. His (Bro. Eli) brilliant display of biblical expertise, as he intelligently answer all the questions asked in his TV program, will never stop people from realizing that this man is guided by the Holy Spirit.
As the public marvels for his gallantry in defending the doctrines of Christ in TV, off-camera, he is a humble and compassionate servant of God, and of the brethren. At his stature as one of the well-known religious icons, Bro. Eli never acted with aristocracy. He does not allow anyone to address him as �sir�, since the word implies �lord� in the old English language. He maintains to be called as �brother�, since we are all brethren and co-equal in the sight of God. Unlike most of the pastors of other religions, Bro. Eli works for his personal needs. The fruits of his labor are also extended to the needy members and non-members as well. He is never shameful of doing �blue-collar� tasks. Friday night, Bro. Eli himself is busy cooking in order to earn money to support the expenses of the Church and to provide lunch for those who will attend penniless in tomorrow�s thanksgiving. Since the members are not imposed with various collection obligations, but what is only written in the Bible, the finances of the Church is not enough to cover for the high costs of broadcasting and other expenses. This resulted for Bro. Eli to engage himself in debts for he believes that it is the parents who shall save for his children, not the other way around as written in the Bible. He is a �hands-on� shepherd to his sheep. He is not hidden from the sight of the people. People can see him daily in the television; in person every Saturday in Apalit, Pampanga; electronically through email or the web site. So as to serve the most number of people in the world, he had opened all possible venues of communications not for any profit but only to propagate the pure word of God!
God�s mercy and love to man has never been this clear and understood! The emergence of Bro. Eli in this country is a proof that Filipinos of this era is very much fortunate! We are blessed by God by placing His messenger in this poor country to open our minds to the glory and promise of our Father in heaven and His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
