| Hi everyone - a baby update to keep you in the loop on the latest. Hannah, as of this writing, is 6 days old. She is doing great! She is alert and responsive to the environment around her - when there is a sudden noise or movement, she reacts - and that is good news right there! And when she opens her eyes its really the most wonderful thing - she kind of arches her eyebrows up, then the eyelids slowly open (oy, such an effort!) and there are those big eyeballs lookin around wondering what the heck is goin on! She really is a sweetie! And she is doing things that babies born at 33 weeks generally don't do so soon - she takes to the bottle, she's scooching about on her haunches inside her little incubator, and she is gaining weight at a slow but steady pace. And she's breathing entirely on her own! The nurses are quite pleased with Hannah's progress. She seems to be a little troublemaker - who would've figured? She gets pretty darn ticked off when her diaper is filled with poop (well, wouldn't you?). And when she's ticked off, she lets you know it. And that's a good thing too! She has been caught in the act of trying to pull those annoying wires and tubes away from her little nose. And her first night in the incubator, she was knocking at the clear plastic walls trying to get out. You go girl! Mommy and Daddy are getting used to the crazy new schedule. Mommy spends anywhere between 6-10 hours a day at the hospital, holding baby whenever she can close to her chest. Good for baby. Good for mommy. And whats good for mommy is good for daddy. Trust daddy on that one! So the bottom line is that Mommy and Hanny are doin great! And ya know what? Daddy ain't doin too bad himself. |
