| Another Hannah Update for Friday, May 4! Say Happy Birthday to Hanny - she is 21 days, or 3 weeks old today. Geez, has it been only 3 weeks? As you might have heard, Hannah has been doing phenominally! Okay Dad, thats what you said 2 weeks ago, so what else is new? Well, she's taking to the bottle, and she's alert and responsive, and when she wants something she lets you know it, and all the nurses in the special care unit thinks she is the CAH-YOO-TIST thing in the world. Okay Dad, thats what you said 2 weeks ago, so what else is new? You want news, here's news. SHE'S COMING HOME!!! Things happen fast in baby-land. Hanny has been doin such an amazing job of sleepin, suckin, poopin and peein, the nurses don't have anything left to do that Mommy and Daddy can't do on their own. She's still pretty tiny, but she's been gaining weight slowly and steadily, well over 3 lbs and approaching 4. The wires have been gradually been taken off her over past 2 weeks so that now she is just a little self-supporting and independent machine. And what a sweet little machine she is! Up until yesterday - May 3 - she had been in an incubator, her little home away from home. She was getting comfy in there too, and starting to decorate it. With POOP. Well, we have time to work on those interior decorating skills. But the mean ol nurses wouldn't let her stay comfy in her incubator, cuz she was just doing too darn good. Well, as good as she could be doing for being the sweet little troublemaker that she is. Just yesterday she was moved out of the incubator into a crib. And once a baby is put in a crib... its a pretty good sign that in 2 or so days, she'll be ready to come home. And that�s whats happening!! Probably as early as Sunday! Yikes � that�s� TOMORROW!!! |
| So how are Mommy and Daddy handling this? Well, they've been trying to get the house in order and to get the furniture for the baby room delivered which it was 2 days ago just in the nick of time but the crib and bookshelf needs to be set up and the cushion for the rocker got delayed in shipping and a last minute trip to the baby store to get purchases for diapies and baby wipes and ooh dont forget the car seat and it has to be installed before we pick her up and has the stroller been set up correctly and the cushion just got overnight delivered and woops we just got a new camcorder and daddy has to figure out how to work it and where did the playpen go and the house is still a mess and theres boxes and wrappers and papers and baby catalogues all over the place and Mommy and Daddy are going MAD and this is before the baby is even IN THE HOUSE and... Well, you get the idea. Hanny is coming home, and thats all we care about when it comes right down to it. |
