Chapter Ten
Two months passed and Xenta remained with Dusthana. Xenta felt at home with her. It felt a lot like life on her home planet. Dusthana also knew Puarta, which made doctor visits easier. Xenta could tell Dusthana almost anything without judgment. This night the two say in the living room talking. Xenta was on the couch and Dusthana in a chair.
You know I could be killed for this, Dusthana started off, very different then normal.
For what, Xenta asked concerned for her friend.
For having you here, Dusthana said, its really against the law for me to help you. Kohl made sure of it. Now Puarta can see you because she is his sister and he would never hurt her, but the rest of us are not safe. You see it all started when he got the idea to make you his queen and reunite the two spesis. But you turned him down and broke his heart so he forbid the rest of us from helping you. He wants to make it so that you can only turn to him for help. Right after you broke up with him was when he took my sister. Sadly she went willingly. I couldnt follow him. he made sure that no one could track my sister down. We helped him before because he promised no Washins would die but now we are not sure. Kohl knows that we all need each other to live; many of us stood against him and all but a few of us are dead.
Then why are you helping me, Xenta asked.
You are the key to fixing this mess. Only you can save all of us, Devons and Washins need each other. This is why you and I can help each other, Dusthana explained. She bared her left arm to reveal a small red mark.
The sign of the Trosa Broten, Xenta gasped. It was the yin-yang symbol with a tail and arrowhead point.
My sister has one on her right arm, Dusthana explained.
Ive seen that maker on a friend, Xenta said. And his brother.
Dont you get it, Dusthana sighed, we are each other. Only help of what we once were. The war took us to another degree of separation. After the war your King thought he was helping but he breed us out of each other making us completely two different races. Thats where the hating started. Our king wanted to take over but it wouldnt happen. He was killed in the war and vowed to come back and carry out his plans. We have found that Kohl is his direct descendent. And you, your kings. He wanted to start the original race again but it can only be with you. The leaders must reunite the race or it doesnt work.

We all have the marks, Xenta stated blandly, Who knew they were our undoing. Xenta stood and walked to the fireplace. Above the mantel was a wide mirror. She turned and pulled at the back of her shirt to reveal a snarling tier head on the back of her left shoulder blade. Dusthanas eyes widened. No! She has Amberuss mark! Devon Dark Queen, the legendary tiger head. Kohl has opened a door that will kill is all. The rebirth has been set into motion. Xenta started at her birthmark. The tiger head is the royal symbol passed down as our mark of the next heir. Each mark is in a different place and a different position of the tiger. I have to wait and see if this child is the one who bares the next symbol.
Its late Xenta you should sleep, Dusthana said, Ill get you some tea. You seem tense tonight. Dusthana quickly returned with a steaming teacup. Xenta took the cup and in haled.
It smells like rosehips, Xenta looked down at the tea.
Yes, many people believe they can smell things that trigger happy memories. Many people see loved ones and good thoughts, Dusthana smiled sweetly.
Dont have many of those, Xenta smiled weakly, life just hasnt allowed it. Well good night.: Dusthana nodded and let Xenta sleep. A few hours later she stood staring at the sleeping Washin.
I know what you think child, Dusthana whispered, What id he knew, but it wouldnt really change anything, but I will let you see. You need the answer.
He is not your destiny.

~Dream~
Xenta walked into the break room at Capsule Corp. she was holding her one-year-old daughter.
Jescele have you seen Vegeta, Xenta asked.
He just left with Bulma, Jescele said, a date I think.
That baka! Its his turn to watch this one, Xenta growled.
Ill watch her, Jescele offered.
No, Xenta sighed, shes not your responsibility. You always watch her when its his turn. Plus you have a date so go out and have fun.
What about Chi0Chi, Jescele suggested.
She doesnt need to be concerned with me right now. She has other things to deal with, Xenta shook her head.
What about Piccolo or Eighteen or,
Everyones bust Jescele. They always are. Its like we dont care about Dende any more, Xenta vented,
Were close to winning, Jescele reminded her.
If we dont get the dragonballs it wont matter, Xenta started.
We can get a new Kami and he can make new dragonballs or even bring back the old ones, Jescele tried.
It wont be the same, Xenta said somewhat defeated.
A new Kami would change everything.
~End Dream~

Xenta woke to see Dusthana sitting in the chair with her eyes closed.
Are you all right, Xenta asked,
Fine, Dusthana smiled, just musing over some thoughts.
I had a dream, Xenta told her.
I know, Dusthana nodded, a vision of sorts.
How do you know, Xenta asked sitting up.
Dreams are my gift. I interpreting I mean. And the tea calls to mind thoughts that need to be said, Dusthana told her.
Do you want me to tell you my dream, Xenta asked.
I know your dream Xenta. I saw it in my own mind just ad you did, Dusthana told her, more of my gift. Xenta nodded waiting to hear what this strange dream had meant.
In your dream Vegeta knew about your daughter, Dusthana started, yet he didnt care. Your dream was a sort of vision of the future if you tell Vegeta. Things will be worse off for you, all of you. Your friends will stop caring about your mission.
I cant let that happen, Xenta said, no more people can die. I cant let them.
Of course not theyre your people. Dusthana nodded fully understanding.
Xenta had one more month until her daughters birth and two until she had to give her up.
Have you decided what you are going to do, Dusthana asked.
Yes, Xenta nodded, I have some fiend who can take care of her. But they cant know shes mine.
Will a month be long enough to recover, Dusthana asked.
Plenty, Xenta nodded.
Xentas two months passed without her sending any word back to Capsule Corp. she couldnt risk the connection from Dusthanas house not that anyone really noticed. Jescele waited for a call the first few weeks but she ended up being lost in a whirlwind of dates with her precious Godog. The voice in her head seemed to have stopped talking to her for at least the time being. Vegeta could care less what had happened to his once sexy blue kitten. He had lost himself in a secret romance. In his mind he was trying to make up for the pain hed caused Bulma years ago but he was too afraid to actually say so. Gohan seemed distant and was never around. Goten came in and out of the compound always in a rush for a date or coming home from a date. He told no one whom he was dating. Thought Piccolo made him run his plans by him in secret. Chi-Chi was her normal concerned loudmouthed self. Everyone was living their own life just as if they were in the past. Piccolo was the only one who noticed Xentas absence, the rise of Dendes other agents reeking havoc. Silently he watched his friends slip back into a time long forgotten. Things were very different but they were all careless again. It was as if the nonexistence of Xenta meant the lack of work. Eventually Piccolo slipped off to the Palace; there he could uncover everyones dealings of the last five years.
Xenta spent her time bonding with Dusthana more then anything. She felt out of place in her hideaway but it was better then the looks she would of had to endure. She knew she went to the best place possible. Her only other option was Puartas but he would have meant seeing Kohl.
Xenta took a look around the living room at Dusthanas house. It was her last day there. The time had come for her to return to her life as an agent. She looked around sadly. She really was going to miss the place. On the floor were two baby carriers. Xenta went to the closest one. She leaned down and moved the blanket off her sleeping daughters face.
My little Inveta, Xenta smiled, soon you will be in your new home. He child was a very light blue healthy yet small. She leaned over to the other baby carrier. Inside was her son. Who knew I would have twins. No one could have told.
My poor little Nolen, she touched his cheek softly, youre so small. He was a very dark blue in color but he seemed so weak.
Xenta its almost time, Dusthana said coming into the room. Xenta moved onto the couch.
Do you think Im doing the right thing, Xenta asked, separating them like this? I know that the best place for Inveta is where Im going to take her but he could be safe there too.
If they can keep him alive, Dusthana said, hes too weak to travel right now and even if he could they wouldnt have the medical knowledge to help him. Only Puarta does.
And she can only come here, Xenta sighed, I just wish they could be together since they cant be with me.
Youre doing whats best for both of them. Now come on. Go get ready its almost time for you to leave, Dusthana looked at the clock, and you know you can always come back for him. Ill keep him safe until then.
I know, Xenta stood up, Ill be ready in a few. She walked out of the room.
Xenta returned to room dressed in all black save her dark blue hooded cloak. In one month she had almost lost all the weight thanks to a shady treatment Dusthana had given her. She walked across the room and picked up the Invetas baby carrier. Nolen let out a small cry. Xenta turned her head pretending not to hear her son. Dusthana kneeled and picked up the boy quieting him. Xenta turned her whole body slowly walking away.
Ill be back for him someday, Xenta whispered a single tear rolled down her cheek and then she was gone.
Xenta reappeared at the door of the Palace. She drew her hood up over her head and knocked on the door.
Ice opened the door into the night. She looked upon the hooded figure standing there. A blue hand came from under the cloak and beckoned her to follow.
Father I am going for a walk, Ice said stepping outside and closing the door. She turned and followed the figure down away from the door. The child in the carrier let out a soft cry.
Who are you, Ice asked.
Ice, Xenta said removing her hood.
Eja, Ice all but screamed as thee child cried again.
Shh Inveta, Xenta whispered. Ices eyes shoot to the child.
Who is she, Ice asked.
You cant tell anyone what Im about to tell you, Xenta started, you have to promise.
Of course I do, Ice smiled, shes cute.
Shes my daughter, Xenta blurted out. Then it all came spilling out. Xenta told Ice about her trick of her friends and her trip to see Dusthana. She left out Vegeta, Nolen, and other details but now Ice knew.
You cant tell anyone, Xenta said, but I need a place for her to live. I cant keep her at home. Its not a good place for her.
You could keep her here, Ice smiled, we can tell Father she was abandoned and that you knew her mother. We can say she died and we are her only hope. And you brought her here for our help.
You would do that for me, Xenta asked amazed at how much Ice cared about he.
Yes I would, Ice told her friend, here follow me and well get this over with. The two walked back to the palace and went in.
Father look who I ran into, Ice said, its Eja and Inveta.
Inveta, Frieza asked.
The daughter of a dead friend. I was left with her but I cant care for her. I dont have the place or time, Xenta told him.
I told her Id take care of the child Father, Ice said boldly, that way she will be taken care of. Frieza glanced at the carrier then back at his own daughter.
So be it, he allowed, for the sake of a new life.
Lets go find her a room, Ice said pulling Xentas free arm. The two left Frieza alone milling over his thoughts. They picked the room across for Xentas room.
this way when you are here you can be near her, Ice suggested.
Its great, Xenta smiled.
Now we can decorate for this room, Ice was bouncing.
Ive got to return to work tomorrow Ice, Xenta sighed, Ive been gone so long.
Too long, Piccolo said to her, Im sure that the people you work with miss you and need you to get back to your job. Xenta locked eyes with Piccolo knowingly.
Its not the first time Ive been away, Xenta said, but I do need to get back so that I can get back to my work. I have some unfinished work.
Eja can I talk to you alone, Piccolo asked.
Sure lets go across to my room, Xenta said leaving Inveta with Ice. Piccolo closed the door behind him and Xenta sat down on her bed.
I cant tell you much about her, Xenta said, there is just too much to explain.
What do you think youre doing, Piccolo asked her, this little stunt could blow our cover.
Im helping a friend. You know what thats like, dont you? Helping the people you care about/ you did that once I know it. All anyone used to talk about was the wonderful Piccolo, a great friend, a great brother, and a great partner, Xenta ranted.
Why is this so important to you, he asked.
Her mother was like a part of me, and her father well I almost loved him once, Xenta looked at the wall.
Loved, Piccolo asked.
Is that is hard to believe Piccolo? Hes not the first I came close to loving and I doubt hell be the last. I am capable of emotions. My life isnt just about sex. Im here to help others not myself, she explained whole-heartedly.
I never said anything about.
But you though it Piccolo. Like everyone else. They all do, she cut him off. Piccolo opened his mouth to say something but was cut off by a knock.
Eja, Piccolo I know you wanted to be alone but Inveta is crying and I cant quiet her, Ice said from the other side of the door.
And now back to our movie, Xenta signed opening the door and walking back into the other room. Piccolo followed her silently. Ice handed Xenta the crying child.
Now my little rebel girl, Xenta rocked her a little, its bed time child. Inveta the rebel cannot cry now.
Rebel, ice asked.
Inveta means rebel, Xenta explained. Piccolo glanced at the child who was fussing sleepily in Xentas arms.
Here. he said taking her and bouncing her a little and then in a deep soothing voice, its sleep time Inveta. And with that the child latched onto Piccolos arm and fell asleep. Xenta looked at Piccolo out of the corner of her eye.
Who knew hed be good with children?
