Plan-Do-Review 11:20- 12:45
This is the time of day that children are allowed to work independently in a chosen area of the room. Each child plans an activity (I plan to build a road in the block area.) I provide support as they engage in their activities. During the review segment I encourage each child to review his/her work and relate it to earlier knowledge.
Storytime (flexible timing)
This is "reading for fun". We use books, flannelboards, and role playing. The children are given an opportunity to choose the books and stories.
Music and Movement (flexible timing)
Children are given opportunities to express creativity while moving to the music using different props (rhythm sticks, streamers, instruments). We do activities to develop large muscle coordination. We also work on keeping the beat to music. This helps the children develop rhythm for reading.
