| CARSON DAVIS RODEO ANNOUNCER By Tom Smith From the announcers stand Carson Davis checks the entry sheet. He peers over his reading glasses and scans the bucking chutes. He knows the bulls, he knows the bull riders, and they know him. Carson Davis, father of bull riding legend Jerome Davis, is known throughout the rodeo world for his warm smile. His twinkling eyes and mischievous grin will brighten up any room. Carson has been announcing Southeastern bull riding for over sixteen years. It might be providing commentary for Jeromes big league PBR Invitational or announcing a back your truck up and drop the tailgate pumpkin roller. In either case his Southern drawl resonates from the microphone with the same enthusiasm. Compared to other rodeo announcers Carson participates in far more events than his counterparts, adding to the action at several weekly bull ridings in addition to announcing regular sanctioned events. He provides color and humor that allows the crowd to feel a part of the action. His humble sincerity adds to the drama as an event unfolds. Carson Davis Davis Rodeo Photo Carson is as genuine as a sunset. His character is kindness, a product of his simple raising. He is often found giving a helping hand to a cowboy in need. Young bull riders pile out of his recognizable black dually truck after he pulls into a parking lot. There is always room to squeeze in one more. Carsons heart is as big as his cowboy hat, and it shows in the respect and admiration that the cowboys have for him. Carson has done a lot in promoting the sport of rodeo by working with the young people. He has a good way with the kids. Joking with them, offering them sound advice, and every now and then, bringing them back to earth. And when a rank bull is covered they know they will hear their name echoing through the sound system.WOW! WOW!...What a Ride!!! Man!!! |
