The Ballad of the Strawberry Queen
by Thistle Longfaith, S.Q.
Close your eyes, time for bed,
On fluffy pillow lay your head.
Sense and logic we don't allow,
Imagination has full reign now!

'Cross deserts sandy and swelt'ring hot,
In rivers wide where raindrops are caught,
O'er rolling hills and valleys so green,
There you'll find the Strawberry Queen!

You tap a red door with a nod and a grin,
The portal opens, and you're ushered it.
Facing a mousemaid with purple eyes,
Attired in white silk that no money can buy!

A gentle smile crosses her face,
A smooth voice says, "This is my place!
Lying and cheating, those are forbidden,
Now how did you find my abode so well hidden?"

With a stutter and mumble, you try to start,
But the Queen laughs,"You have a good heart!
Come now, both of us can explore,
Hidden passages and rooms galore!"

The mousemaid and you fly 'round the castle,
Eating strawberries many without any hassle!
But all too soon, your time is done,
Queen Strawberry points to the rising sun.

Back o'er the valleys and hills so green,
Ling'ring memories of the Strawberry Queen,
Float past deserts so burningly hot,
'Cross wide rivers where raindrops are caught.

Soon you're back to your own bed,
Off the pillow comes your head.
Birds are chirping, you're awake!
But those dreamy mem'ries no one can take...
