Suspension Work
Old ball joints
Drivers side A-Arms getting taken apart.
And yet more old ball joints ... all worn out.
More old ball joints
My idea of a ball joint separator.
Trunk full of suspension parts about to be installed ...
Passenger side all back together ...
Note the shiny new tie rods, sleeve, and center link
Rear view of the passenger side assembly
Koni Yellows and ex-yellow springs
Driver's side lower ball joint ... it is riveted to the A-Arm ... I am guessing this is the original ball joint.
Hardest part about all this was maneuvering the internal spring compressor out of the spring once it was seated in the lower A-Arm and shock tower.  The rotors have only 100 miles or so on there ... they were put on just before the car came off the road.  Ball joints didn't give me that much trouble ... but getting the bushings out of the A-Arms took some doing and some muscle.  Hardest ball joint to get out was the drivers side lower ... it was riveted on there, unlike the passenger side ... guess that means it was the original ball joint.  Ball joints were all really worn / scary ... made me shake my head when I saw the condition of my front suspension that I had been driving the car with.  The steering gear (tie rods, sleeves, and center link) were no better ... were worn and the sleeve clamp bolts were facing the wrong way and hitting the A-Arms under braking/turning ... they are all new now.
