2007 is just starting and life keeps on moving ... things are going great at the new house, its over 2 years now that the fiat has been my daily driver, and my only car really, unless the wife lets me use hers! Most of my work to the car has just been sorting out the odd gremlin, which have become few and far between. Cleaned up all the elec connections, applied dialectic grease, soldered as many connections as possible ... right now (first week of Jan) im replacing the steering box ... the 'original' was shot ... I found out during the removal process that at some time, a P.O. had put in a very early (72 or earlier) box and modified (read, ruined) the original u-joint steering shaft to connect the 1980 small-shaft steering wheel to the large shaft of the early box. It is a bad feeling when you think you'll have your car back on the road in a few hours to realizing you have to wait a week or so ... but no big deal, it can wait a bit longer. Never ceases to amaze me how, nearly 10 years after I bought the car, Im still finding ridiculous things that the P.O. mangled. Dont get me started on the mystery wires Ive been removing from behind the dash, connected to nothing and going nowhere. Im still on the hunt for a good 2L block to start my engine build up .. the old 1.8 is getting tired, but still has a lot of life left in it yet. |
