- Bio: As you can see I'm not too interested in revealing certain things about myself, but anyway-
Never have I been considered normal or ordinary and while this is a self asserted statement I have been called "weird", "strange", and a bunch of other things, but never normal. I love most things Japanese and a lot of my clothing consists of Chinese style clothing, a few yukata, and stuff that just "looks" Asian. I am a dedicated Christian, but if you ask me what my religion is don't be surprised if I give you a strange look and say I don't have one, because honestly I don't.
A Christian is simply a person who follows Christ- not a religion. While there are many religions based on Christianity (following Christ) the practice (for lack of better word) is not. While the dictionary may define religion as; A belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe and a personal or institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship, too often in every day speech I find this to mean "what denomination do you belong to?" For me being a Christian is about who I am as a person right down to my core not about church doctrine and/or routine that can be discarded at whim when I get bored or whatever. That being said I am not knocking churches or any denomination it just isn't for me cuz to be honest I find it too restricting. God asks so little of us and too often I find we place unnecessary restrictions on ourselves or just flat out unreasonable ones and a lot of people get too caught up in bureaucracy than what's in the Holy Bible. Still, some people have personal rules such as not going certain places or doing certain things that could have them come off as uptight, but if that's what keeps them from sinning (doing things they know are wrong or are wrong even if others say they aren't) then more power to them. It's only when people look down on others because they don't follow their personal rules or for not being a Christian is when I have a serious problem with some people. Yes, Jesus is the only way we can be saved, but being saved doesn't make one person better than another; does not dying in a car crash make someone better than the person that did? You are better off not dying in a car crash and the same for salvation- you are better off giving your life over to Christ than not giving it over to Him. Heaven and Hell are real and if you run from God where else is there to go? When you think about it our life span on Earth is like that of mayfly- extremely short compared to how long some trees or buildings have been standing, that is if they don't get knocked down. With that being said nothing lasts forever and tomorrow isn't promised. I rather give it to God now than wait and live outside His rules in sin and find myself in a miserable spot for eternity for being so selfish and putting myself on pedestal above God. Anyway, who am I to tell the creator of all that exists that I'm gonna do things my way? That be rather narcissistic/high and mighty/foolhardy attitude, this is His place I just live in it. Taking that kind of attitude would be like a painting giving its creator the finger. I rather not purposefully do something like that to Something that can destroy me as easily as I can a piece of paper or canvas. :p
Who/What is this God/Jesus you speak of?
- In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.
There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe. 8He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.
He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God? children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. John 1:1-13
- Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him."
John 14:6-7
Concerning sin and Salvation:
- If we say we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and refusing to accept the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts.
1 John 1:8-10
- For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16
