You revealed your soul to me,
You showed me your darkest secrets,
You told me your worst fears,
And now you expect me to laugh, to walk away,
Just like all the others.
You expect me to think you a fool,
A hopeless shadow with nothing to give.
Behold your life,
And see all you've been through,
And try to tell me
That your life holds no meaning.
Read your rhymes and try to tell me
That you never learned to feel.
You think a poem nothing more than empty words,
And how I wish you could open your eyes and see
That a poem is every emotion mixed into one;
Someone's soul, someone's heart, someone's mind,
Brought to light on paper.
Don't you ever write down your thoughts
And then try to tell me you are incapable of feeling emotion.
.
How could I ever walk away from you
After you've shown me your soul?
How could I ever laugh at you
When we are so very much the same?
We share a common bond,
The ability to breathe life into otherwise meaningless words.
Nothing you say or do
Could ever make me walk away from you,
Because everything you say and do
Only makes me love you more.
.
Don't turn away from me
When all I want is to give you something to live for.
Don't push me away so soon,
Not after you've opened up that whole other side of me
That I never could reach on my own.
There is nothing I can do that will ever make you realize
Just how much I need you.
There are no words I can say that will ever make you see
Just how much I love you.
.
You can rest assured these aren't empty words.
They're only the promises my heart is making to you.
Don't turn them into something else, don't take them for granted.
Lock them away inside your heart,
And when life goes from bad to worse,
Remember these words and think of me,
Your bright shining light, a guardian Angel upon your shoulder,
Forever your angel, your reason to live.
